Buddhist Cultural Training Program (BCTC)
“The mark made on a pot before it is baked lasts even after the pot breaks
away. Similarly, the mark made on children, of the Buddha the respect toward
the Dhamma, lasts till the end of their life."
Mahāgandhāyon Sayadaw (Amarapura)
Each year children’s BCTC program is conducted at the Tharmanaykyaw
Mahagandhayon Monastery, Mawbi, Yangon during March-April school holiday.
The program lasts for 21 days and about 100 children temporarily ordained as novice and nun undertake residential course.
They learn theoretical as well as practical aspects of Buddhism such as morality, ethics, the doctrine of kamma, 38 blessings, virtues of Triple Gems, mindfulness meditation, and radiating loving-kindness.

The course is taught based upon the method and teachings of
Mahagandhāyon Sayadaw (Amarāpura), Mahāsi Sayadaw (Yangon), and
Paṇḍitārāma Meditation Center Sayadaw. Each week the participants also
sit for written exam.
“One who works, speaks, and thinks according to the Buddha’s teachings, among humans he becomes extraordinary human being, among novices he becomes extraordinary novice, among monks he becomes extraordinary monk. When a good person leads, good followers appear. When both the leader and followers are good, the country as well as Buddha’s dispensation can develop and flourish.”
