Meditation Center

The eastern wing of the monastery is retreat center and is for the practice of vipassanā meditation. Currently, each year three 10-day vipassanā retreats are held: in December, April, and July. These retreats are conducted in Myanmar language. However, the retreat center is open to all meditators who wish to learn to cultivate vipassanā at any time of the year.

During the March-April children's BCTC program is held and also a new year retreat for local meditators. Hence, foreigners are advised not to come for a retreat within that period. The weather is best from October to beginning of  March.

Tharmanaykyaw Sayadaw comes from Mahāsi vipassanā tradition and teaches vipassanā to both local and foreign meditators following this tradition. The meditators can practice vipassanā meditation in a quiet and conducive environment.
